Beyond the Horizon
Foogarky's ritual begins every day at dawn. He scans the sea, looking for the glint of glass in the morning sun. Like clockwork, a bottle appears, bobbing up and down as the waves propel it to the shore. It contains a message within, from a distant land, or perhaps even the far beyond. At times, it's fragments of forgotten fairytales, filled with noble knights and otherwordly creatures. At other times, it's vignettes of everyday life, capturing beauty and wonder in the unlikeliest of places. And once in a blue moon, the messages are incomprehensible, speaking of strange phenomena from the far future. Fortunately for you, dear reader, Foogarky painstakingly preserves every bottle that he receives. For he knows that you will come one day to collect the message that bears your name.
Lost in Conversation
The hours passed, as they spoke of this and that. Lost in conversation, and in each other's eyes. A breeze brought in the aroma of a baker's delights. "I smell cinnamon," she said. "And hazelnut too," he replied.
